Why should families participate?
The goal of UPK is to create equal access to quality education before kindergarten AND help reduce the overall cost of childcare for families.
Who is eligible to participate?
Dependent on program participation and capacity, ALL 4- year-olds are eligible for 15 hours of free, voluntary preschool the year before they are eligible to go to kindergarten. Certain qualifying factors will provide up to 15 additional hours for 4-year-olds and 10 hours for 3-year-olds.
How do I apply?
The Colorado Department of Early Childhood has created a portal for families to apply for UPK funding. You can find it at upk.colorado.gov.
If your family qualifies as low-income, you will be asked to upload proof. The system accepts pictures and pdfs. You can upload it after submitting your application if needed.
