What We Do
Colorado’s TANF program provides temporary financial assistance and support services to low-income families with children to help them meet basic needs while working toward self-sufficiency. The program is designed to reduce poverty by promoting employment, education, and personal responsibility, rather than long-term dependence on cash assistance. Families who qualify may receive monthly cash benefits, along with access to job training, employment services, childcare assistance, transportation help, and education programs. TANF in Colorado has work participation requirements for most adults, meaning recipients are expected to work, look for work, or participate in approved training or education activities. Benefits are time-limited, emphasizing that TANF is a short-term support system to help families become economically independent.
