About Us

Mountain Montessori is the sole American Montessori Society (AMS) accredited school in Eagle County, Colorado (Vail Valley). Our primary mission is to foster and encourage authentic Montessori education. As a parent-founded school,  we’ve spent the last 20+ years investing in over 900 children 3-6 years in our community. Our Founding Executive Director, Martha Teien, is in the first cohort of the Montessori doctorate program from the University of Wisconsin River Falls (UWRF).

Our Values:

Lifelong Learners: Build a school with excellent teachers who are passionate about their work and about the children. On average, our staff sets aside 10 days annually for professional development.
Fostering Stable Connections: Create stability for the children by having the same teachers each day versus different teachers on different days.
Prepared Environment: Provide a classroom and playground that promotes learning, creativity, exploration and responsibility.
Life Work Balance: Take care of our teachers by treating them as real teachers and not as just caregivers. We love where we will amid Vail Valley’s breathtaking natural beauty!
