To promote and support a system of quality, accessibility, and affordability of early childhood for families in the rural resort region
What is the Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Council?
The Rocky Mountain Early Childhood Council (RMECC) is a coalition of community members and agencies working together to create a high quality, comprehensive early childhood system to benefit all young children, families and providers. Our mission is to “promote and support a system of quality, accessibility, and affordability of early childhood for families in the rural resort region.” We are a 4-county collaborative that covers Eagle, Garfield, Lake and Pitkin counties, and we are continually striving to build strong local partnerships to assure young children and their families have access to high quality health, mental health, early care and learning systems and family supports.
Presently, the Council continues to fulfill its purpose through initiatives that strengthen the early care and education system across the region. Our members come from a variety of positions in the Early Care and Education field and many are part of local, regional and state groups who help to shape the field to benefit families and providers throughout the state. We welcome new members who are interested in strengthening early childhood systems across the region for children, families and early childhood professionals.
There are several ways to participate in Council work. We meet monthly either utilizing distance methods or face-to-face meetings, but also have committees who help shape particular work plans and initiatives. Whether you want to be very involved or participate based on the topics discussed and the work being done that has a particular connection to your life and passions, there is a way for you to be involved!
